UK, US link fusion supercomputers in AI push

The UK Atomic Energy Authority and Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory have linked their supercomputing infrastructure to accelerate fusion energy development through shared data and artificial intelligence.

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and the US Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) have established a transatlantic connection between their respective supercomputing facilities. A primary objective of the partnership is the development of sophisticated “digital twins” for future fusion power plants. By integrating experimental data with predictive AI algorithms, these digital twins will allow for the simulation of plasma behavior, materials performance, and plant-wide operational scenarios.
