Fusion Industry Association reports 45 private developers, $8.9B cumulative
Annual FIA Global Fusion Industry report shows continued capital growth despite macro headwinds.
The Fusion Industry Association's 2026 Global Fusion Industry report counts 45 active private fusion developers worldwide and $8.9 billion in cumulative private capital deployed across the sector — a 21% increase year over year.
Public funding to private companies, primarily via DOE Milestone awards, UK STEP partnerships, and EU INFUSE allocations, contributed an additional $1.4 billion in 2025. The FIA's median company-level estimate for first electricity to grid is 2035, with the modal estimate at 2032.
