Race for fusion intensifies as UK opens flagship project to investors
The UK government is restructuring its national fusion program, seeking billions in private capital for the STEP prototype plant and establishing a new public-private delivery body.
The United Kingdom government is formally seeking private investment for its flagship fusion energy project, the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP). The state-owned UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) has established a new entity, UK Industrial Fusion Solutions (UKIFS), to spearhead the design and construction of the prototype plant.
