ORNL, Type One partner to advance fusion fuel cycle
Oak Ridge National Laboratory has licensed its cryogenic pellet injection technology to Type One Energy, providing a critical fuel cycle component for the company's high-field stellarator power plant concept.
The US Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has executed a licensing agreement with Type One Energy Group for a portfolio of technologies related to cryogenic pellet injection. This agreement provides the private fusion developer with access to systems designed for fuelling and disruption mitigation in fusion reactors, a key enabling technology for continuous plasma operations. The licensed intellectual property stems from over four decades of ORNL research and development in pellet fuelling, which has produced systems for major fusion experiments globally.
