IAEA Launches New World Fusion Outlook at Opening of Fusion Events in China
The International Atomic Energy Agency has released its World Fusion Outlook 2025, a comprehensive report detailing the global status of fusion energy and outlining the technical and regulatory hurdles ahead for the industry.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) launched its World Fusion Outlook 2025 report, providing a global assessment of the fusion energy sector's progress and future direction. Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi announced the publication at a fusion event in Chengdu, China, stating that the field is entering a new phase defined by accelerated technological development and substantial private investment. The report, compiled with input from 54 IAEA Member States, aims to serve as a foundational reference for policymakers, researchers, and investors by consolidating information on the more than 140 fusion devices currently in operation or under construction worldwide.
