BEIJING – A new Chinese start-up, NeoFusion, has launched with the goal of accelerating the development of commercial fusion energy by tackling a critical software bottleneck. The Beijing-based company is developing an artificial intelligence-driven platform to dramatically speed up the complex simulations required to design and operate tokamak fusion reactors. This focus on computational tools addresses a key challenge that has historically slowed progress in the capital-intensive race to generate clean, limitless power.

NeoFusion's core product, a software suite named 'Neo-Alpha', aims to reduce the time needed for high-fidelity plasma simulations from months to mere days.
